BOBBY HILL EXHIBITION AT UBIQ IN PHILADELPHIA

 

BT6787.jpgBobby Hill is a young creative talent from New York (Harlem, Brooklyn). His work takes from various sources. Graffiti. Pop. Abstract expressionism. He has bee influenced by Keith Haring, Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollack and Robert Rauschenberg. His contemporary influences are Bansky and LA2 (who painted fill-ins for Haring).

Hill has been commissioned by COKE and has done work for The Source, XXL Magazine, SLAM and Savoy Magazine. His work was reviewed (highlighted) by Mass Appeal magazine. Over the last year he has had sell out shows: Saville, Spain; Paris, France; London, England. His work combines Graffiti, Pop and Abstract Expressionist elements. There is rich surface and imaged to keep you posted (focused). In many paintings there is handwriting and messages. When the writing is used it is done for the graphic element but there is often comment that is meant to read as well. The work has energy. The surface is alive. It has the pulsating feel of the street. Sometimes Hill will grab posters pasted on a wall and incorporate it into his work. Occasionally he will pastes or stitch fabric to his working surface.ʉ۬His last exhibit in SOHO drew thousands of people.

The show at Ubiq should not be missed. Ubiq is a cutting edge sneaker manufacturer that sees the connection between art and fashion and has committed its top floor to present art. There will be a poster to sign by the artist at the opening reception, July 16 from 4:00 to until 7:30.

UBIQ is located in center city Philadelphia.1509 Walnut Street. The show runs from July 1 through July 30, 2009.

Thursday, July 16 is the artist reception. There is an after party from 8:00 until 12:00 at: J.L. Sullivans. 200 Broad Street.

The sponsors of the after event are 1800 Tequila, Red Bull, Dick Blick Artist Materials, American Dreaming Magazine and McJawn Magazine. The ART FACTOR/TKP Creative Group and Bruce Teleky Inc/American Vision Gallery are organizers of the exhibition. This event is also billed as the premier social mixer for visual artists.
