For Daria  “To The Future”  Eric Fischl

I was not going to miss and I didn’t, getting a personally signed copy of Eric’s book.  I have admired his work , especially since he is one artist that embraced the figure in painting  in the 80's and inspired many artists back to painting the figure and gave me a reference to my own work at the time .  (Apposed to  conceptual art  theory being taught in the art school system ," the figure is dead" ) Thank you Eric for keeping the figure alive!

The Rizzoli Bookstore at Empire Gallery in Sag Harbor, NY had  an opening and book signing for Eric Fischl and his recently published book, BEACH PAINTINGS on August 1, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. There was  an exhibition of selected works from this series from August 1st-August 16th. Eric Fischl Beach Paintings

Written by Eric Fischl and A.M. Homes

About the Book

This beautifully designed volume of 200 of Eric Fischl’s beach-inspired works is a celebration of life at the beach by one of the most significant American painters of nudes and figurative works today. This collection of the artist’s beach paintings—the first book to bring together this exceptional body of work—unites paintings, photographs, watercolors, charcoals, and more in a sumptuous volume that is an ode to beach culture and a book to treasure long after summer ends. With a short story by critically acclaimed American novelist A. M. Homes, this book is a remarkable pairing of painterly aesthetic and literary style.
